How do I become a Referee?

Classes to become a referee are offered at the Massachusetts State Referee Committee.  Click here to go directly to the massref.net "how to become a referee" page.

What is the age at which I can become a referee?

The minimum age to become a referee is 12.  Massref.net provides information explaining the process of becoming a referee and the age group requirements, as well as allows anyone interested to sign up for a certification class.

Which class should I sign up for to get started as a referee?

Generally speaking, you should register for an introductory class for the "grade 9" level referee certification.  Click here to sign up for an upcoming class.

Where are classes held for referee certification?

Classes are offered in many towns surrounding Natick and sometimes in Natick.  Please visit www.massref.net for schedules.

Do I need to be certified in order to referee in Natick?

In the past, we have used a combination of non-certified and certified referees for intramural but only certified referees for travel soccer.  We are updating our referee development program and encourage you to contact one of our referee assignors listed below for more information.

Will Natick Soccer pay for my referee training?
